These days, stainless steel railing systems are not just for commercial buildings and industrial sites. Modern, as well as contemporary, residential spaces are known to incorporating metallic handrails along stairs, decks, openings and indoor balconies. When combined with concrete or wood, stainless steel railing components offer a clean, stylish look. From a safety perspective, the systems are durable, corrosion resistant and long lasting.
An example of a custom home project that successfully incorporates Inline Design’s stainless steel Seattle Bar System and Gamma Quasar Handrail Wall Brackets comes from Bart Santos. Based in California, Bart required custom features to ensure proper fittings and compliance with state building codes. The components were installed inside his home, tastefully serving as safety barriers along exposed sections of the wall on the second floor. The stairway also incorporates stainless steel handrail brackets, which supports a long wood rail.
Bart’s project included the following components:
- 48 Stainless Steel Bar Holders
- 12 Stainless Steel Bars (8.2’ x 9/16” x 3/16”)
- 3 Gamma Quasar handrail wall brackets
During installation, two stainless steel bar holders were secured on wood posts. The holders supported the stainless steel bars at both ends. Each half-wall consisted of seven bars and 14 bar holders, with a wood top post for additional support. Small gaps between the bars promoted air circulation and openness in the area.
The Seattle Bar System was chosen to match various wood components on the second floor. Bart used maple posts, which were finished using Danish oil and water-based polyurethane. The sleek stainless steel bars also complemented the home’s Dijon oak hardwood floor. Furthermore, the shiny railings served as subtle accents against the wood theme.
For the stairway, a total of three sturdy Gamma Quasar Handrail Wall Brackets were installed diagonally, with equal spacing. To ensure a sturdy fit, each stainless steel wall bracket featured two mounting holes to support the wood handrail. The components were made from 316 stainless steel, which offers superior corrosion resistance against household cleaning agents, water and debris. This type of material is also suitable for outdoor, beachfront and marine (saltwater) locations, such as docks.
Bart’s custom home project was a huge success. The installation truly captured and showcased the versatile features of the Seattle Bar System and Gamma Quasar Handrail Wall Brackets. From modern commercial buildings to comfortable residential spaces, Inline Design’s products can be incorporated with a wide range of building layouts, themes and styles.
